Better Hearts

people like you –
are protected by those –
with better hearts
because they know –
how weak you are
and how easily you fall apart
people like you –
are wrapped up in cotton wool
by people with better hearts
they shield you from the work
rush to find a coat for you
when it gets cold
they are infinitely patient
and always understanding
in a way that i admire
and in a way that shames me
people like you –
are insulated from reality
by those with better hearts
kept away from the emotion of life
kept to a minor part
people like you are protected those –
with better hearts
