As I Age – Written Saturday 3rd December 2004 (Aged 29)

As I Age

career progression
is just another thing to face
as i age
i feel less inclined to race
as i turn a page
a cheap suit
feels more like a secure cage
one,
from which is there no escape
and as others play this game
selling off their dignity
or swapping it for stress and strain
i have to look for reality
as i age
i feel less inclined to agree
as i turn a page
i want so much more to just be me
as i age
a daily slog
feels more like a trip to madness
one which is done as a brisk jog
