A Quick Update for New Followers

A Quick Update

I have had a few likes and follows over the last couple of days, this is much appreciated and I thought it would be a good time to explain how this site works and why it exists.

I’ve been writing bits down in writing pads for many years, I am 44 now and it feels like a good time to go back, revisit and do something with all these writing pads.

I am not a technically gifted writer, I was never trying or have tried to reinvent poetry, I just wanted capture me and life.  Consequently, there is a lot of writing and there is a lot which might feel and probably is quite throwaway, but it is all part of me and my life.

The Boy Behind the Glasses is me cataloguing that work, you will see from the menu that everything is split into years and months, slowly (very slowly) I am building up a record of my writing.  For those who have very kindly follow me, I apologise in advance if it appears you’re flooded with notifications.  I work on several pads at a time and go through the process of tying up and then uploading.

This means I have very early work from 1995 that I wince every time I read, through to work now, which I feel more comfortable with.

So please bear with me, I will also play around with the site, I have stuck to a style I like in terms of format, where possible, I included the original poem as a featured image which shows how and when they were written – it’s the working out – the pencil sketch under the painting type thing.

I am fortunate so have a large part of my life covered by a body of work which isn’t always tip top in terms of quality but it is me and I’ve lived through such different times in the way our world has changed.

I am always welcome thoughts, comments, likes and even challenges.  Any advice around the site and its design is also welcome.

Thank you again,

James
