The Loving Touch – Written August 2006 (Aged 31)

The Loving Touch

what makes them so scared
when roads opened up
why did they close
when opportunity arrived
why did they leave
i wonder where it went wrong
was the weight of guilt
just too much
did parents abandon responsibility
and fail to provide the loving touch
what makes them so scared
when did reason leave
when it no longer cared
this need for answers
this veritable sinking of quick sand
life is complex,
and we yearn to understand
but answers can be strange
and we need the security of hands
what made them so scared
