The Woman I Loved
this is not the woman i loved
this is not the woman i cared for
this is not the woman i hurt –
yet always adored
this is not the woman i knew
who held me close –
as we grew
this is not the woman i made mistakes with
this is not the woman i let down
yet i could not let go
because my feelings were easily found
the woman i loved
would never have been so spiteful
or hurt me like this
as relationships collapse
the woman i loved blames me
and rearranges the facts
this is not the women i loved
i may not deserve a lot of things
but this lack of respect
goes beyond my worst dreams
this is not the woman i loved
she was bright and funny
she was intelligent and lovely
what happened to the woman i loved
