Narrow Eyes
the narrow eyes stab black dark views
the fumbling fingers
reach hard for stubby keys
the message is written in a font
overflowing with hurt
and rich with the stench
of disappointment
there are more years of hurt
the need to be loved
becomes a yearning ache
deep inside
cutting swathes through self respect
and spreading disease
through such small and weak self esteem
the laughter rings out
with the hollowness
of long forgotten church bells
a call to arms
that falls short and beaches itself
on the shore of self harm
the love lost,
a chemical spill, an environmental disaster
setting fire to personal charter
the narrow eyes
