That January Day
tell me,
you love me
tell me,
it is going to be, ‘okay’
i know a son
should not be his mother’s –
only son
and i never meant such a thing
or to be tied to her, ‘apron strings’
tell me,
you love me
tell me,
it is going to be, ‘okay’
such a time
since that january day
and the pain is just a word
in lieu of everything else
but in the love
that we share
there is a comfort
and just us, without room to spare
tell me,
that days ahead
will be, ‘okay’, both good and bad
words are comfort
tell me,
it is going to be, ‘okay’
because i love you and i am not going away
