Wheat and Rye
i would be a good dad
not perfect,
but a father, a dad
i would make mum proud
even though she is not here
to indulge,
what she wanted from me
i would do it –
because of her frailties
and the toughness
of expressing love
even when you absolutely feel it
how could i –
with a childhood –
of wheat and rye
not try my best
it can hurt to care
when people question that
it kicks in my doors
it places an axe –
into those deepest meaningful boards
