When She is an Adult
when she is an adult
she may look back
at being a child
with a tear
or maybe a smile
i wish i had the strength
for a concrete view
but there, i do fall short
all i care about right now
is falling and being caught
it is true,
i would offer them a different view
but look at me right now
veering between highs and lows
some days i am chasing sunshine
some days digging myself out of the snow
when she is an adult
maybe she will have longed
for a different experience growing up
but i do not feel
that i can do any more
i am still learning to heal
and this takes all my might
and all of my will
