Time to Retreat – Written Wednesday 18th October 2017 (Aged 42)

Time to Retreat

i am sad at the moment
i see my place in the world
in a way which is now, less clear
and far less near,
i used to be liked for who i am
i used to be disliked for who i am
but now,
i seem to have accumulated labels –
that dictate who i am
i have been everything you have
i have been everything you love

i am sad at the moment
i feel the battles are lost
and i will be told what i am
and i will be told who i am
but only based upon prejudgements
in those darker days
the joy of connection
like new found, joyous direction
now the fun has gone
and it is all politically driven
everything is full of an agenda
and i am on the, ‘wrong side’
time to retreat, time to retreat
