What Did You Want Me to Be?
what they you want me to be
the alka seltzer for their past?
the aspirin for their childhood
which, remains in a plaster cast
did they want me,
to be the tissue for their tears?
their quivering lip?
the band aid for the wound
that continues to weep and drip
what did they want me to be
my trust was not enough
and they played a forward pass
which i kicked into touch
their problems on the backburner
whilst mine just boiled
what did they want me to be?
