Aftermath – Written Tuesday 15th February 1994 and October 1994 (Aged 18/19)

everything now
is after the event
it is the aftermath
i used to know, where to go
but now i have lost the path
it is all overgrown
this is emptiness
the worst i have ever known
i have nothing left to do
i have achieved just what i wanted
even in the places i invented
everything i thought was real
was really just synthetic
everything i thought meant something
really meant nothing and looks pathetic
and for someone like me
who hates to stay the same
that is really strange
so now i cannot pause
i have to show some assertion
i will cut through the mist
and find myself some direction
i will, even if I do not know how
it feels like the hardest thing
i will ever have to do
i have got find a new path
i have come over the hill
into the aftermath, into some real
