Whirlwind – Written Thursday 31st July 2008 (Aged 33)

it caught me the other day
and it was in relation –
to a conversation i was having
i said, it does not affect me –
because i am on my own
and then, i was caught, just for a moment
by the surreal nature of my situation
the position i am in caught me
i was not sad, nor was i upset
but, just for a second i stepped outside
and for once i was looking at the whirlwind
rather being part of it
i never expected my marriage to break up
and i never planed for this type of thirty three
and although many do judge
i understand it and that is all that matters
just as i understand where i have come from
even if i am not sure where i am going
it caught me though
and a situation which had dutifully –
worked its way through the ranks
from odd to somehow normal
suddenly, without warning, became odd again
and yes, it caught me the other day
