All About Those Things – Written February 1995 (Aged 19)

All About Those Things

i just don’t know about you
sometimes i want someone to tell me –
where to go, what to do
suddenly i feel myself floating away
i realise i am alive,
in someway, forever more
and yet, in some ways,
just for a few seconds
i do not have a thing to worry about
yet, you should have seen me cry last night
i faced all the past
i dreamt of the roughest sea
but i could only stare at the mast
there was no sail to help me
get away fast
i fell out of touch
everyone gives me some advice
sometimes it does not feel right
everything appears to be up in the air
i lose myself within myself
and i wonder if i am really there
there has got to be somebody there?
do we really have to live on dreams
i know we have got to work to make them true
i am thinking about all those things
and i wonder if one is not you
