Family Collective
these are sadder times
grey areas –
in the patchwork quilt
life is many colours
and right now
the candle’s flame
feels under attack
from a foreign wind
should we choose to look back
this timeline
would have been seen
but neither mystic
or soothsayer
would have had to predict
we have lived a jigsaw existence
where only certain pieces fit
the tears that i hear
as they fall down
they affect me
but long ago i learnt
the value of being indoors
and when required
the art of closing windows
as we sit
huddled in silence
and lost for words
not only for the now
but for our collective past
there is a sinister colour
that tells me the dye is cast
