False Experience – Written Monday 20th September 2021 (Aged 46)

False Experience

the internet and social media
feels like a false experience
and i understand that before the days –
of status updates –
and the latest outrage
we would watch things
read things, turn a page
but when i think about life experiences
we have truly entered a new age
one where bias has become all the rage
but suddenly i find myself –
in a place where i am not –
having a physical experience
it is just words on the screen
it just an echo chamber of empty screams
and suddenly i realise much of this
if not all of it, is a false experience
i realise i am being played
i am the ultimate consumer
i am being triaged like a rapid dog
so i have moved away
and for the want of a better phrase
i have rearranged my emotions
and invited simplicity back into my days
