Locomotion
today i watched my dreams run away –
and join the circus
i saw my hands give up in protest
and my mind breathed deep
and uttered a sigh
i felt the pain of a broken connection
it ripped open my heart from the inside
today i heard you talking in rooms
i felt the pull of unrequited emotion
i saw love waiting on the platform
it was in need of some strong locomotion
today i felt the presence of clouds
in a sky that has turned permanently grey
i felt the pain of a wound
that had become apparent as you walked away
today i need all the lights turned on
i need a universe of the brightest stars
i need all the planets to feature life
i need so much right now it hurts
today i watched my dreams run away –
and join the circus
