Dreams and Demons
i fought demons –
with cold and chattering teeth
i pulled up my duvet
and cowered beneath clean sheets
hallucinations
and the slow gnaw of the mice
tells me i am alive
and feeling bright
i fought demons
i wore my clothes and told my stories
i made a homeward run
just for some long lost trophies
hazelwood and darkness
are always a class apart –
from the fear
which flows through my heart
i fought demons
