Memoirs of a Human Being

i feel disconnected –
from what went before
the past is –
just foreign law
and i am no graduate
i am not a star scholar
the past,
it likes to holler
but i can never answer it
the future –
looks back down the tunnel
and it tells me to trust it
but i am wrapped up in notions –
of what it really means to fit
i feel disconnected –
from the memoir i have written
the life i have lived
and the way the past is smitten –
with the regrets
and the way the shy are bitten
let me embrace you
the living embodiment of the future –
that whispers in my ear
and i know, it is not like it used to be
but the tears are creative
and maybe the future sets us free
