Internal Takeovers – Written Wednesday 27th July 2022 (Aged 47)

Internal Takeovers

none of this is me
but perhaps,
it has become me
i like to tell myself
i am an introvert
it suits my vision
but those –
extrovert tendencies
somehow grab me
i am quiet because…
i am quiet…
i am shy… surely?
you had to get on
when i realised
that i did not belong
and misbelief suited me
it carried me along
people tell me –
that they have to force it
that it does not come naturally
i look back
and i feel much the same
none of this is me
even if i manage to keep my name
