The Contrast – Written February 2003 (Aged 28)

The Contrast

someone should not be compared to the past
for the past has gone
and nothing can last
we cannot forever chasing shadows
on the surface of the sun
i heard a rhyme
that was a call of this cause
if you chase the past
you cannot move forwards
someone should not have to live up to,
what has gone before
the travel is people going forwards
there are no magic doors
not ones that take you back
to a sugar laden past
someone should not be the unfortunate contrast

James Garratt – February 2003
