Days of Poverty and War
those men do leer
they do all the, ‘dirty work’
ignorance wears stockings and it becomes fear
the, ‘good old days’,
they were days of war and days of poverty
but those days cradled those men in their arms
what world do we live in?
what world did they live in?
how has it changed?
that bakelite clock beneath a different frame
those men are of their generation
moulded by expectations,
that in reality most never lived up to
and we grew up under this sufferance
under their abusive view
