All The Buildings I Tore Down
I live,
with the buildings I tore down.
I live…
I live with the decisions I have made,
caught out as I am,
in the spaces
of a forgotten home town.
I live with the toxicity
which I now know
all too easily coursed through my veins.
I live with all the things,
all the things
that quite rightly you dislike,
with all the things that I broke.
And I live with
all the situations at work,
the ones
that a truth‑teller like me knows will end up in hurt.
And I live,
I live with this,
and so much more,
caught as I am,
hiding behind the not‑so‑magic door.
And it’s one
I can barely close,
because behind it is all my “stuff”,
and my stuff — well, my stuff really knows its stuff.
I live with all the things that never go.
And,
and every day
I try not to show it,
and I need people to say, to stick around.
Because I live,
I live with all the buildings
that I once tore down.
