they lied to me again
tried to raise a smile
but i had it adopted
and that takes a while

smile for me,
just me,
and see what the future brings

trust so broken,
is so hard to mend
there are no skilled surgeons,
with hands to lend

we are just the crumpled clothes
the ones that lie upon the floor
we are trying to define chapters
from behind a closed door

part of me is drawn to the past
and when we went through –
what i call, ‘the phone call cycle’

have you ever had to fight
fight for who you feel you are?
your identity,
have you?

I have not done anything wrong
yet it is i,
who receives the punishment

i am not here
pulled from heaven
by the pull of fear
i am not here

harbour no doubt
only dreams
set sail
with only feelings

the anger and the hurt
it is too much at the moment
i have never pretended in my life
