I hope everyone is safe and well, I do enjoy reading other peoples work, I have developed one or two favourites, often their writing captures me, either in its content or the way it’s written. You’ll know who you are because I make a point to like your work.
i am beautiful
and though my dreams –
may be a balloon –
that eventually floats away
i never expected life –
to be a bowl of cherries
and to be truthful,
i am not that keen on cherries anyway
feeling older than my years
a sailor on a sea of my own tears
a climber,
stuck on a mountain of my own fears
you gave the label freely
but never did understand that –
i wore it so very uncomfortably
back then we hardly knew –
which way was was up
and the smell of cheap perfume
was just about enough
it’s over
and though the pain –
will turn to embers –
over a period of time
i tried expressing myself
but somebody –
wanted me to be somebody else
take the rough with the smooth
at least i know
at least,
on a selfish plan
at least i know
no role models
no bearing on what is correct
no human contact
so little respect
