The Date Went Well

the date went well
they had a new top on
her hair worn slightly differently
so, the date went well
there was an uplift in the smile
and a giggle
that reflect something of the inner child
not much
of a downward trend
talk of course,
so we will just be friends
and he is a gentleman
not a wicked fiend
so, the date went well
but the narrative is not fate but time
and it will always tell
did they gel
or just stick
did they fumble for conversation
did the hopeful pieces really fit?
the date went well
a slight glare when they walk
a trace of confidence
as they talked
life’s blues come from a bolt
when will the play lines,
truly convert?
