Bloom – Written Friday 20th January 2006 (Aged 30)

inside all the bottled up hurt
all the anger,
all the resentment
all the frustration
is a beautiful child
with eyes aglow
waiting for the love and confidence
needed to grow
provides these painful stabs
i am not your helper
i should be,
but i fail at every turn
because i stoke the furnace
as the past burns
forced to take second best
forced to be dumb
expected to be pale and just take crumbs
along the line
a flower did not bloom
the beautiful child remains
locked in a room
waiting for moment when sunlight reaches in
and they finally begin to bloom
