I Caught Their Smile in a Paper Cup
i caught their smile
in a paper cup
and i placed it on a bookshelf
i found their childhood
in a rockpool
full of fish
i caught their anxiety
in a paper cup
and i placed it on a table
it caused ripples
then a defining shiver
too much expectation
and a package to difficult to deliver
i found their hope
on a daily beat
i changed their shoes
to better suit their feet
i went to bed
and lay beside such love
we are the result of contact
the lure of hugs
i caught their smile
in a paper cup
and i filled our kettles
with such personal defining love
