A Face to Know – Written Thursday 16th july 2020 (Aged 45)

A Face to Know

it feels like there is a face to know
you know, to get out over there
and there is a ticket which they buy
but there is never one to spare
sadness has found me this time
crouched down in a corner
and i have bitten my own tongue
it is red, like raw meat
my eyes have stiffened
and the ache is complete
it feels like there is aface to know
some person you have to be
and that person,
well, well that person is never me
and i am bent double
clutching both sides
i feel the weight of this trouble
and my red stiffened eyes cannot hide
and i have bitten my own tongue
again, i have floundered,
in solitude and weakness
my silhouette is once again
found to be speechless
it feels like there is a face to know
you know, to get out over there
yet i remain and i am my own authentic self
not scared and not everybody else
