Distance – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

what does it mean to me
what should i expect
a touch from your miniature hand
a little respect
maybe i should expect nothing at all
seems like you are making invisible rules
seems like i am just a fool
i like you too much
and you are still calling me
saying things are still the same
but there is distance
and you are not making yourself plain
we have built our foundations on shifting sands
how is anyone meant to understand
don’t let, ‘us’, die
i could have loved you today
instead i just wanted to cry
you kissed me goodbye, hanging onto my kiss
now you are gone
and you are the person i miss
but still there is distance
and the phrase, ‘don’t get heavy’
but you said you wanted to go out
so what does that mean to me
do not let me suffer in silence and pain
what does it mean to me
i do not want to suffocate you
and i do not want you choking me
please tell me who you want me to be
tell me till i am almost deaf
what does this mean to me
