Helping Yourself (To Help Yourself) – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

Help Yourself (To Help Yourself)

i do not want you to take me off guard
you have to realise, all the things you have got
and realise that they could,
really drive you insane
and if you are not careful it could grow –
into something that you cannot contain
i jumped out of my world
and landed into this one with almighty bump
my friend is looking sad with his lot
and in my throat is a lump
i do not know what is going on
to me, people seem content to live in self pity
not willing to help themselves
i might just understand –
if some of these people had no one else
come with me, let’s get out of here
i have been digging a tunnel all my life
just so so i can make that eventual escape
and if that does not work, then we will have to fight
there is not time to wait
but i do not want you to hold too tight
just in case, because i am scared you will disappear
i am scared that you are just a ghost
and that you really and truly just clear
