Life Moves You On
it all conspires to remind you
remember younger days
perhaps not carefree,
just different memories
less skilled priorities
money in the pocket
and a jacket to wear
years mounting up
and memories to share
there are life events
which affect you deeply
there are those that drill down
and remain planted
i try not to forget and cling on
but that is silly,
what matters this second
is just as quickly gone
and the awful truth about life
is that it always moves you on
and it always has,
even if we kick and scream
and it is curious to think
that if she was still here
then we would not be in this place
