They Stole All Our Heroes – Written November 1994 (Aged 19)

They Stole All Our Heroes

they stole all our heroes
the workers of fate
before they got to old
before it is too late
they did not say why
late for what?
they stole all our heroes
now they have all gone
i was only young
when he was gunned down
before he had been found
a generation losing its direction
i was just two
when the astral door opened
and he went through
i miss all my heroes so much
the music is there,
some of it makes me cry
i wish i could reach out and touch
why did they all have to die?
it is not fear, it is just not fair
keep on rocking, till you drop
the music is a reflection
it does not have to stop
it can be about all of us
me and you
it is there, and we all cry
because it is so easy to relate to
child molesters, rapists and –
women beaters
they all live such a full life
people who mean well, always die
they die so young, that cannot be right
can’t someone tell me why?
