Feeling Awkward – Written April 1999 (Aged 24)

Feeling Awkward

with my glasses –
resting upon my nose
with my strange clothes
and a writing pad
for any amusing notes
looking for dad
but i know dad never went
because dad never arrived
so, i have unbalanced parents
with my odd choices
and middle of the road music
with my clumsy feet
with my best friends
and a sense of humour –
slightly off beat
i know the holes are round
but the pegs are square
you only get down
if you are going to be there
so stick at individuality
it will be the last boat sunk
stick your own ways
because it makes for better days
