I Am Not Spent – Written April 1999 (Aged 24)

I Am Not Spent

what did i know
i am not spent
but where did everyone go
i feel like i am on a ship
but a ship without a sail
i put another day away in a drawer
why do my relationships fail

i am not spent
but the month is nearly up
and i am not sure i have the rent
i hurt someone
just to give them advice
but where have they gone
we never had a fight

i am not spent
just tired all the same
trying to negotiate the world
one that looks so cold
when i look-
through the dirty window pane
the world looks so old
