Your Friends – Written Sunday 19th February 1995 (Aged 19)

Your Friends

i am taking this one bad
i wish i could take it better
those silly trend setters
or so they think
with the same £4.99 dress
lipstick all over their faces
saturday night, think they are the best
especially in tacky places
where they try to be unique
they all have to be unique
because none of them can do –
anything on their own

i am taking this one bad
i wish i was not, but i cannot help it
i am really angry
i need your number to set it free
then i know i will be happy
they say revenge is sweet
and tomorrow,
i will find out how sweet it is
your friends, the trend setters
will never know better
in their cocooned world
it is where they stay
and i am sure it is where they will get old
their bodies seem to shake
my it must be so odd
