Far Away From Truth

people do not really understand you –
do they?
they form opinions
which they do confuse with fact
they talk about you and lack tact
no way forwards and no way back
they give you a label or a name
they say it is for your benefit
in fact, it is for their personal gain
and feelings and moments are lost
the real you,
given up to an alien host
i tire of being told who i am
and i tire of being told how i feel
i guess it is the human condition
i am all the things they said, yes, i am
but only in their head
it is an awfully lazy game between –
how others see you and the actual facts
