Truth is Painful
the truth is painful
is in the truth of a bond
one i could not find
i tried,
and i know of the things –
that swirl inside
but the love i should have given
just broke down
perhaps it was never driven
i held,
i talked, i was involved
and tried to mend
i could sit here
and say they were to blame
but that is not true
it takes a combination of two
i was reckless and naïve
they had another life
in which they needed to believe
the truth is painful
and you cannot always stop the bleed
quench the thirst or even the need
