Another Year
they welcome in another year
they wash down the previous
with all the stolen fears
we hold onto the rail
we categorise our lives
and award it a pass or fail
i see someone on the top deck
as we start to sail
but they cannot tell me
what any of this means
i know someone who clings to tables
and drowns in his dreams
he claims he is barely able
and falls apart at the seams
they take part of life
and claim that they clash
with all of life’s convention
but like so many of us
they are just waiting for an invitation
