Roles – Written August 2022 (Aged 47)

Roles

the pressure to fulfil roles
roles,
roles that you want
roles that people did not choose
roles that people had
but then they lose
people ask,
where is the me
exposed as i am
the pressure presses down
and none this i truly understand
that is where our lives are
we are bit part actors
acting out different roles
remembering our lines
places to be
different characters
different roles
forgetting who we are
under pressure
and all of it feels so hard
roles,
roles that we accumulate
feeling guilty,
self-loathing and hate
all because we put ourselves first
