The Wrong Name Badge

democracy –
is only about power
you do understand that,
right?
did you think it was about change –
oh, right…
no, that is not the case
power and change –
are two different things
one can work with your dreams
and the other tries to stop you when you swim

democracy –
is only about power
that is why in this country
we have the self-serving system –
that we have
and that is why any meaningful change
looks like it’s already been had
did you think it was about change?
oh, i see…
no, it’s about power wearing the wrong name badge
the one that incorrectly says, ‘democracy’
