They Could Not Love Me

they could not love me
and that is their failing
i reminded them of the past
because it just keeps on calling
they could not see me,
and their preconceptions
well, they never did set them free
it just chained them up
they could not love me
and that is their failing
chained to negativity
looking back on life
and drowning in tears
the tears,
that as a little girl they has cried
they could not love me
because of decay inside
i had to provide above any level
that allowed me to breathe
and when love fails,
hate comes in quickly behind
they could not love me
and that is their failing
