poor, poor society
crying its heart out
for what could have been
a place of understanding
and a place of softer landings

people are driven by ego
it is not that you are
but perhaps you understand the cost of fuel
and the nature of your car
people are driven by ego

it is hard
because skin was thinned
by a childhood, battered with bricks
and, if nothing else, all these years
have been hoping it would become thick

life has exposed me
for who i am

we all feel like –
we never fit
but then –
some of us do not fit

i made my poems
dance along its streets
i made my hope play drums
whilst looking for a beat
i made my experience run free
with runners feet
