I Put My Hand Up – Friday 25th April 2008

I Put My Hand Up

i put my hand up
and i dared to ask
i knew it was a matter of time
before i would be told to leave the class
because that type of school
is one where you do not ask
i pointed out that the sum of us
could be multiplied by tears
divided by hopes and dreams
and finally subtracted by years

i put my hand up
in a two person class
i thought we were together
but i dared to ask
what exactly it meant
why was i fading fast
was it all not just pretence
but in that type of school
they are the things you mention
it is more than detention
as soon as you question
you are expelled in an instant
