Perhaps the Glare Was Too Much
the deepest tragedy of all
is that all you wanted
was just within your grasp
perhaps the glare was too much
maybe it made your heart beat too fast
but all that you wanted,
was there, within your grasp
the saddest tragedy of all
is that these moments do not last
and then, back into the sea you drift
away from sanity you are duly cast
desperate to be believed
you frantically scale the mast
but the deepest tragedy of all
us that what you wanted
was there, just within your grasp
was the light too blinding
did you become too scared
of the answer you found
did the thought and courage required
pull you all the way down
the saddest tragedy of all
is that all you wanted
and all that you deserved
was just within your grasp
