Former Days at The Till
i am at odd with the world
that autism tag just made me gag
and it fuelled my isolation
forty days in my brain
reinforces that situation
i am fighting,
punch drunk with the world
leaning into the wind –
and tilting into windmills
and i can alter so many things
but not the way feel
it is a consequence,
of former days spent at the till
dealing in short change
and fighting for the vowels –
that pepper your name
that autism tag dug in deep
it went beyond my eyes
and buried its way into my sleep
