Thought About Talking to Them

thought about talking to them
but then I remembered the cost
thought about finding her
then remembered she left me lost

thought about the woman
that I cast away
i wonder if she sailed far
and did she find those better days

thought about talking to them
the one who made the claim
like a number or a reference
but i was not to blame
for how she changed her preference

all those people
that had once crept inside
and at one stage
had looked deep into my eyes
now as the times start to fade
i realise,
none of it could be saved

thought about talking to them
but what is there to gain?
closeness has long gone
we are no more then names
and any lights that once shone
have faded with the pain
