All Alone Now
we are all alone now
and the past has left
did you not see,
it crept out of our doors
when the innocence stopped
and the drink no longer pours
we are all alone now
and the past has left
because when previous relationships end
new identities are created
and sadly, we cannot even be friends
but those new identities,
are seemingly found
and passports are quickly changed
you are all alone now
and your past has left
there are slices we choose to remember
and pieces we choose to eat
and that shows having your cake and eating it
is no easy feat
we are all alone now
and the past has left
it leaves us to wrestle with the previous day
and in order to be complete
we place our cups on the tray
but we are only ever shards
none of occupy the lead,
we all play many varied surreal parts
