Here I Am Today
sixteen is remembered
it is just a dream
but i can just about touch it
i am from a different generation
i remember the year,
i remember laying foundations –
for what i am now
and despite the damage
that i had taken
it felt like i could see past the fake
and that dreams were never forsaken
and when sixteen is remembered
she becomes more than a name
but her memory is dismembered
in places of my brain,
i always felt more for her best friend
sixteen is remembered
like a childhood den
but it seems like an age away
all hat hurt, pain and anger
and here i am, here i am today
