Laying in Your Arms
maybe laying in your arms
is a place –
that i should have gone to before
all those times –
i played like a whore
a significant reprobate
caught in a game of knock down ginger
and when it is too late
then your smile –
is the change to the town
that all this time –
would have stopped me wandering around
so let’s go to lunch
because once, i went too ground
but i always knew –
i would be homeward bound
maybe laying in your arms
is the whistles and the bells –
and the chimes above my bed
it has to be true,
because i hang onto the words you have said
